We were quite spoiled last week and now it’s been so bitingly uncomfortable outside! That being said we are continuing Raising a Reader at the Pembroke Library and we end this week with another Early Childhood Fair in Hanover! Thank you to all the people who came out last week to the Kingston Early Child Fair - it was a huge success! Also, last week’s Bedtime Stories, our weekly live video on Facebook, every Sunday at 7:00pm, was the most watched yet! So many people tuned in and a lot more people shouted out and said hello than any other week thus far! Thank you for tuning in - and keep coming back - we have mots more stories to share!

Lastly, we have now scheduled the Hanover Raising a Reader to begin in April - I will be making the announcement this week - call the library or South Shore Family Network (number below) to sign up!

Raising a Reader at the Pembroke Library has been a lot of fun so far - call the library to see if there is still space at 781-293-6771 or South Shore Family Network at 508-747-7575

The Patriots win! Did everyone stay up for the whole game? Wow - it was a nail biter until the end! Let’s just say the Big Ryan household was going nuts - well, the ones who were still awake, which was everyone over the age of 8. Things were a little crazy there but we pulled it out in the end. As for my week coming up - a lighter week - will be a welcome break from the bustle of the last few weeks. People always ask if I love my job - of course I do - but the travel can get to you sometimes! So it’s nice to hang closer to home this week.

I love stormy weather. I know it’s not all that fun to go out in and I know that it makes everything more complicated when trying to venture somewhere with the little kiddos in tow - but something about it always comforts me. The sounds; the rain hitting the windows, the wind whistling through the trees, all of it puts me at ease in a way I can’t explain. Bad weather also makes the crowds at my storytellings grow so of course I can’t complain there! This week I travel to Kingston and North Billerica (twice!). That’s a whole lot of miles!

When I decided to become a storyteller one of the things I thought about was how, when I had kids, I would be able to entertain at their school for them and all their school mates. This morning I get to join the folks at the Carver Elementary School and tell stories for the Kindergarten, First and Second Grade. These shows are even more special to me because I get to join my baby girl and listen to her giggle through my show with her friends. She’s been looking forward to this all last week and excitingly asks me if know what I will tell, which puppets I am going to bring and how long I will stay. Overall, it’s one of the greatest feelings in the world.

As the last week in October hits it always reminds me just how quick the days pass now. I used to partake in watching the leaves change and take thousands of pictures of the autumn taking over the landscapes. These days I have to think ahead but I take solace in the fact that my children enjoy these days one at a time. I had the fantastic opportunity to tell stories in Mattapoisett last week by an actual bon fire and it truly felt like fall in that moment. It was a moment I haven’t felt in a while so I really let it settle in and take hold of me. It was nice - and the scent of campfire still clings on my sweatshirt - it makes me want to drive around just to look at the fall foliage again.

I am going to be at the Kingston Library this Friday telling my Scary (but not too scary) Tall Tales - so mark it on your calendar and make sure to stop by!
