Message from Big Ryan

Raise Your Hands!

I have updates the Upcoming Shows page – many people have been calling about scheduling shows in December still, not to mention the new year!  I will be making sure I update the page a lot more to try and keep people who are looking to schedule a show informed on what dates are still available!  Thanks for the continued support and look forward to the shows in 2010!

I was grocery shopping today when someone stopped me and asked if I was “Big Ryan”.  I told her I was and she smiled and began telling me how she was planning her husband’s 40th Birthday party.  Her daughter, who was a big fan, she said, asked if her Dad wanted to have Big Ryan come to his party.

What a sweet thought!

My friend Joanna’s cat is sick.  He is going to be put to sleep tomorrow.  It’s even harder knowing I was the one who gave her the kitty.  He was a great cat – friendly and gentle.  He will be missed… a lot.  Goodbye Manny.

It’s the little things – days like this that make me so happy to do the job I do.  The little things like an email from someone – like the one I got today:

“Dear Big Ryan,
I just wanted to personally thank you for your wonderful CD’s.  My son Sammy (6 years old) listens to them every single night before he falls asleep.  Sammy has always had difficulty with bed time but since we began playing your CD’s for him, he is more than willing to stay in his bed, listen to the stories and eventually fall asleep on his own.We first saw you at our public library in Sharon and he loved your stories.  Today as I was traveling with him in the car, I heard him in the back seat reciting your stories to himself word for word.  He particularly loves the story about Sarah and Amy and the baby brother.
So thank you for your wonderful work.  I hope you can make it back to Sharon sometime soon.
Sincerely,
Anat Stollman
Sammy’s mom”

Thank you Anat – for all the kind words.  You made me smile today!

October brings some of the most fun, entertaining stories!  Stories that are designed to make little ones laugh and give a little scare – but nothing that will give nightmares.  Call to schedule your October shows now!  Dates go fast so don’t hesitate to call!  (508) 641 5336 🙂

After a wonderfully busy Summer (and a welcome addition to my family) I have had an interesting time trying to fit everything in – and I usually keep my Upcoming Shows page updated, but, embarrassingly, I fell behind a bit – but no worries!  I have updated it and will keep it a little more present in the future!

Also, I am scheduling for the Autumn, Winter, Holiday shows - if you would like to schedule something please call (508) 641 5336 – I will get back to you as soon as I can!

While telling stories in Lakeville today – as I finished up with the toddlers – they were sitting so quietly, seemingly to wait for the next thing to come.  One of the teacher’s said “Look at them!  They’re mesmerized!  I’ve never seen them like this before!”

The other teacher in the room said “I have.  When Big Ryan came last year!”

Well, thanks to those teachers for making my whole summer!

Daddy’s Little Girl

Well, my wife and I certainly had a surprise this July 4th!  My daughter decided she didn’t want to wait any longer and came out a whole month early!  I have thousands of pictures and videos and will be posting more pics later but I thought you’d enjoy these for now!  My wife is doing great and was an amazing Mommy – one of the most fascinating things I have even witnessed in my life!  My daughter is also doing really well and we are already home!  Thanks to everyone who has written with well wishes!  Now I just have to try and keep up with some sleep!

Daddy and Daughter!

Make sure you have a happy and safe Independence Day – Make sure you eat lots of “hot dogs!”  I look forward to seeing everyone at the many, many libraries I will be visiting this summer!

It might be another drizzly day out there – but let’s not forget to keep of spirits up!  I’m off to New Bedford again this morning (I’m spending all week there telling my stories at various schools) and I will keep in mind what my old Camp Counselors used to say on rainy days like this.  That it’s not rain – it’s liquid sunshine!  Don’t let it stop you from having some fun!
