This week…

I have been booking for this summer since February and it is getting pretty full – so if you want to schedule a date please do so as soon as you can! Last week was quite the week as my daughter performed in her dance recital. It’s sometimes so sad to see what a little lady she has become. You want to freeze time and keep her little but at the same time let her keep growing and watch her flourish. I enjoy the summers as she gets to join me more and more on my adventures! Looking forward to all the places we will be visiting soon!

One of my favorite hobbies is birding. I don’t always have a moment to snap a pic but I am one of those people who just enjoys seeing the birds. I also keep a record of what, when and how many I have seen. To date I have seen 143 different kinds of birds including, just recently, seeing the very cool looking King Eider at the Canal this past week. Also, a Green Teal and a pair of Wood Ducks were spotted at the Grist Mill in Plymouth. Just in case anyone wants to take gander!

I return to the Mary K Goode School to finish up the Building Stories Workshop for the 4th grade – and then again for an evening with the entire school. I will be making a visit to Elm St School and Y World of Tots as well as Acushnet School, a few of the schools I get to see annually. There are no public shows this week but keep an eye on the Upcoming Shows page!

We were quite spoiled last week and now it’s been so bitingly uncomfortable outside! That being said we are continuing Raising a Reader at the Pembroke Library and we end this week with another Early Childhood Fair in Hanover! Thank you to all the people who came out last week to the Kingston Early Child Fair – it was a huge success! Also, last week’s Bedtime Stories, our weekly live video on Facebook, every Sunday at 7:00pm, was the most watched yet! So many people tuned in and a lot more people shouted out and said hello than any other week thus far! Thank you for tuning in – and keep coming back – we have mots more stories to share!

Lastly, we have now scheduled the Hanover Raising a Reader to begin in April – I will be making the announcement this week – call the library or South Shore Family Network (number below) to sign up!

The Patriots win! Did everyone stay up for the whole game? Wow – it was a nail biter until the end! Let’s just say the Big Ryan household was going nuts – well, the ones who were still awake, which was everyone over the age of 8. Things were a little crazy there but we pulled it out in the end. As for my week coming up – a lighter week – will be a welcome break from the bustle of the last few weeks. People always ask if I love my job – of course I do – but the travel can get to you sometimes! So it’s nice to hang closer to home this week.

I love stormy weather. I know it’s not all that fun to go out in and I know that it makes everything more complicated when trying to venture somewhere with the little kiddos in tow – but something about it always comforts me. The sounds; the rain hitting the windows, the wind whistling through the trees, all of it puts me at ease in a way I can’t explain. Bad weather also makes the crowds at my storytellings grow so of course I can’t complain there! This week I travel to Kingston and North Billerica (twice!). That’s a whole lot of miles!

Here is the storytelling schedule for this week:

  • Tuesday: Hingham Library @ 4:00pm – Raising a Reader: Week 3
