After the Show

We celebrated the Summer Solstice in Rehoboth with a great pajama party!  A nice crowd showed and we had a great time hearing “George and the Loose Tooth” and Wolf & Moose’ “Can’t Believe Everything You Read”.  We also did the Popsicle song where the “crazy” flavors that the kids came up with were “Wild Cheery, Wild Banana, Wild Peach and Cherry Rootbeer”  Not so crazy, right?  That’s okay – the last child I called on had a crazy flavor of “Garlic and Onion.”

What a great time it was!  The best part was that some of the people attending remembered my performance from 2 years ago!  It’s always nice to hear that people enjoyed the show so much that it syicks with them through the years…

Marions Pie Shop

I know this isn’t a picture of the library show – but I forgot to take pictures of the show so I thought I’d show you the BEST place to go in Chatham for pie.  Here at Marion’s Pie Shop they have everything pie that you would want!  They have so much pie – it’s almost Pie-diculous!  I picked up an Apple Dutch and Strawberry Peach – both were really good and enjoyed like crazy.  By the way, the show went really well too!

I love doing family reading nights.  Especially when the families that come are as enthusiastic as the groups  was tonight.  I was able to tell a few stories, sing a few of my favorite songs – like the Fishing Song – but the best, for me, is getting to introduce my favorite books to them.  I chose to read “Shortcut” by Donald Crews.  You might remember it from the very FIRST book of the month on this very website 🙂

This is me reading Shortcut – but I had major Red Eye and tried to fix it – but I think it looks freakier because I have no pupils now…

nortonlibary

I started out today in Norton where a great group of children from the Head Start program and a bunch of others came and enjoyed “Get Dressed George” and “George and the Ants”.  I thik the Norton Library is one of the prettiest library’s around.  It’s always a pleasure to visit and I will be back again in August!  See you then!

What a great time I had on Saturday!  Two great shows in the morning had two great audiences.  I pulled out all the stops for these shows and had almost every puppet I had with me there to tell a story!

Nothing was better than the laughs that came out of the families there - cracking up over the fun things that were going on.  The best groups so far in my many years of doing shows for PACE and I thank them for inviting me to be part of the celebration again!

I was in Groton Friday with a enthusiastic crowd of little ones.  As the pictures show – even though it was pretty early in the morning – all of the kids were excited and energetic.  They were treated to hearing my favorite Bill Harley tune “Sitting Down to Eat” and then “George and the Ants”.  I also brought out Alligator and Charlie and Edgar made an appearance as well!  The morning was full of surprises and fun!

Congratulations to the Librarian (who couldn’t be there) for the new addition to her family!

The Taunton Library was a blast!  I love it when I see some new faces in a crowd of familiar ones!  What a great group joined me in Taunton to hear some funny stories and see some of my other beautiful puppets.  Charlie and Max also made their final appearences this weekend, as these puppets are being forced into retirement.  Like I said in the last post – if you are interested in giving some still very nice looking puppets a home then you can email me at ryanstalltales@hotmail.com.

Then, I met with a wonderful crowd at the Brooks Free Library.  An afternoon of silly stroies and Big Ryan fun were had by all!  I also arrived at the library early enough to do a Incredible Hulk Floor Puzzle before the show:

Thanks to everyone who came out this past Saturday!  I always enjoy Harwich, there’s a great mexican restaurant that I visit almost everytime I go.  I can’t wait for the summer though… Even I am getting a little tired of the weather!

Last Friday, I went to the Greenfield Elementary to tell stories for the entire school (Pre-school – 4th Grade).  What a welcoming school and even better, a group of children that were both a great audience and an energetic crowd!  I had so much fun sharing stories like “Sarah’s Surprise” and they got to meet Wolf and Moose!  It was a wonderful experience and some nice scenery as I was driving North.

Thank you so much to the Greenfield Elementary for inviting me up to tell some funny stories and I hope you had as much fun as I did!

Quite a busy day.  Saturday had me running between the Hanover Library at 10:00AM where a large group of children and their parents came to hear some funny stories.  One little girl there so wanted to see the dogs – but liked seeing Wolf and Moose just as much!

Then, it was off to Norwell Library where another big group was waiting to hear stories!  I told some different stories to keep it interesting for myself :)  I saw quite a few people I knew and even some friends who were at the Boy Scout Meeting that I told stories at the prior evening.  Thanks to them for coming again!

And Lastly, I stopped off to tell stories to the families at the Marshfield Yacht Club.  A nice group of friends that remembered me from years before came again to laugh their way through “Sarah’s Surprise” – a story from The Kid Inside CD.

Friday was a pretty fun commute!  I woke up to find the snow had started a lot sooner than the weather man said it would.  I considered entertaining the thought of calling Townsend and saying that I may not be able to make it.  Then I got dressed, brushed off my car, and before I knew it I was on my way, in the middle of a snow storm, to drive 2 hours to Townsend.  All I could think was “I really hope, since I making this trip, that people come out in the snow to hear some stories…

Luckily they did!  A wonderful group of people came out to laugh out loud and dance and hear stories.  We kept warm and I thank the Librarian for taking these pics of the show.

And Saturday, I had a much nicer ride to Millis Library where more children showed up to sing along and have a fun Saturday morning!
