After the Show

b.h. norwell

I had a grand old time telling a few tales at the Bright Horizons in Norwell on Saturday. I was fortunate enough to share that morning with Frosty – since he came out to have breakfast with the smiling kids – and then they came to hear my stories. I started with Bill Harley’s classic song “Sitting Down to Eat” and as you can tell I give it a flair all my own. I love action pics like this. See the duck up there? Almost hitting the ceiling? Then there is the pig and the elephant and the seal. Man that song is so much fun! Well, I’m off to answer more phone calls. I am booking up for the summer already – which is a little sad since it’s snowing outside. Winter hans’t even thawed and I’m already thinking about the summer time…

Jan - Natick Collection

Wow!  What a great crowd showed for this past Tuesday’s show!  I have visited the Natick collection twice before but this time was a huge surprise to see just how many people came to hear the show!  Maybe it has a bit to do with this week’s weather – seeing as we are having the coldest days ever this week.  But hey, whatever the reason – I was ecstatic to see so many people there!

I am already in talks to go back in May – so keep an eye on the UPCOMING SHOWS page and I will see you again soon!

Alligator Love!

Last shows of the year!  Both were packed to the rafters with excited children ready to laugh their way through Big Ryan shows!  First, I visited Fairhaven at the Millicent Library.  I love visiting this library – it’s absolutely beautiful and the crowds that come to the shows are wonderful!  They heard “In the Tub” and Wolf and Moose telling “Can’t Sleep”.

Get Dressed George!

The next show was a hour and a half away in Groton.  Do I mind driving that far?  Not when I get the kind of crowd that Groton had waiting for me.  An exuberant crowd that got to hear “George and the Ants” and Wolf and Moose came out to tell “Can’t Believe Everything You Read…”  Alligator came out to see both crowds and everyone listened and laughed along so amazingly.  This was certainly the way to end the year – see everyone in 2009!  Be sure to check the Upcoming Shows Page to see when I’m in your area!

Ouch Juggling

I had the pleasure of doing a show at the Sharon Library in the morning – and then had to trek 2 hours to Eastham to partake in their annual Turnip Festival!  I didn’t mind the long trip at all since I had never been to a Turnip Festival.  Their were plays and games a plenty at this wonderful event.  I took the stage briefly to tell my Thanksgiving story “Melissa’s Turkey” but then the many kids and librarian and I all settled into the kids area so that I could tell them one of my favorite stories “Sarah’s Surprise”.

Kingston

I was so excited to see a lot of familiar faces at the Kingston Library this evening – and some real new faces!  Like Optimus Prime and Wolverine!  I love events that allow the kids to dress up in their costumes before Halloween!  It’s so unfair that they only get to dress up just once!  This show was so fun – probably my favorite of the season!  The Scared Crow and Nathaniel Willy Scared Silly were the stories on the agenda tonight as well as the always funny “Sleep-over!”

Sharon October

I saw quite a few familiar faces at the Sharon Library.  I didn’t mean to make the librarian nervous – I arrived about 7 minuites before the show was to start (Lots of unexpected traffic) but the show went off without a hitch!  I can’t wait to go back in November!  Thank you to Danielle who took these great photos.  You seem to be able to capture just the right moment when I’m making the funniest faces.

What’s going on in this pic?

Then, Sunday, it was off to the Mom and Dad’s Guide Kid’s Expo in Canton.  I saw many friendly faces – Jessica, Mike the Music and Bubble Man, and even a few faces from the old WearGaurd childcare (man, I miss those guys!).  It was a great time all around and thank you to the Totplex in Canton for hosting this great event!

Big Ryan’s Table

Don’t forget – if anyone is interested in purchasing a Big Ryan’s Tall Tales storytelling CD then please go to the Shopping page.  I made this tri-fold probably close to 8 years ago.  It even has pictures from when I still had hair!  Ahhh… memories

Is there something on my head?

fun with friends

I enjoyed telling stories this past Saturday to a fun group of children with the giggles.  I love to hear children laugh – and these kids were such great gigglers!  I almost couldn’t hold in the laughs myself!  They had a good time hearing Wolf and Moose and singing along with me to my friend alligator – and as you can see – all my other friends!

achoo!

Sharon Library

I was visiting the Sharon Library this past Saturday and saw many of familiar faces!  It’s so nice to see many of the same people interested in hearing my tales!  This crowd was treated to one of the classics!  One of the stories that made me want to become a storyteller!  Pete Seeger’s Abiyoyo!  I will see everyone once again in October!

ARC Family Picnic

I am so sorry!  I have not posted vary much at all in September!  While it is a slower month and most of my paperwork and scheduling for the year is done around this time that doesn’t mean I’m not not telling my stories!  This past weekend I spent telling my stories for the families of the ARC of Plymouth and while we didn’t have the best weather – it was still a great success – thanks to all who listened to the Scared Crow and said “Hello” to my furry little friends!
