Norton 1

I really can’t say enough about the great crowds that I have seen this summer – maybe it has something to do with the disappointing weather – but I like to think it’s because people want to see me!  I’m a little delusional that way 🙂

The “Oh My Gosh, That was funny!” face…

But whatever the reason – I love seeing familiar faces at my shows and I always try to do something new – Norton will be seeing me again in August, and I have to thank Lee for sending me these great pics!

I am always so impressed at the crowds that show up, ready to listen to stories – but even more impressed at how lively they are when it’s time to get up and act silly, dancing around!  These pics were taken by Amy, the librarian – and there are a bunch more posted on Flickr – click the pics to see more.  Thanks to everyone who showed up and I look forward to my return visit in August!

Hi...my name is Joe by Weymouth Public Library.

Daddy’s Little Girl

Well, my wife and I certainly had a surprise this July 4th!  My daughter decided she didn’t want to wait any longer and came out a whole month early!  I have thousands of pictures and videos and will be posting more pics later but I thought you’d enjoy these for now!  My wife is doing great and was an amazing Mommy – one of the most fascinating things I have even witnessed in my life!  My daughter is also doing really well and we are already home!  Thanks to everyone who has written with well wishes!  Now I just have to try and keep up with some sleep!

Daddy and Daughter!

Make sure you have a happy and safe Independence Day – Make sure you eat lots of “hot dogs!”  I look forward to seeing everyone at the many, many libraries I will be visiting this summer!

It might be another drizzly day out there – but let’s not forget to keep of spirits up!  I’m off to New Bedford again this morning (I’m spending all week there telling my stories at various schools) and I will keep in mind what my old Camp Counselors used to say on rainy days like this.  That it’s not rain – it’s liquid sunshine!  Don’t let it stop you from having some fun!

1 – Trick or Treating, getting free candy again. 🙂

2 – Playing Hide and Seek, I love that game!

3 – Reading Hulk comics with her before her bedtime,

4 – Eating Oreos, best cookie in the world!

5 – Watching her play soccer

6 – Taking her to the beach to look for seashells

7 – Skipping rocks

8 – Searching for turtles at the duck pond

9 – Teaching her to ride a bike

10 – Buying and decorating pumpkins with her

Yes, Oxford is quite the drive – but after driving to Groton on Monday, Oxford seemed like nothing!  So, there was a generous group of children to hear the tales that beautiful Tuesday morning and I am happy to say – they were such a great group!  I had Charlie and Edgar come out to tell “Lost Bone” and, as always, had a wild time singing and dancing to “The Button Factory”.  I would take a 2 hour ride everyday if the audience was like this group of excited kids!

After I finished with my Kindregarten show today the teacher asked the class if they liked the show.  One of the kids responded with:

“Like it!  I wanna marry it!”

So, I guess he liked it…

Title: Where did Daddy’s Hair go?
Author: Joe O’Connor
Publisher: Random House

I figure that this question may pop up in the near future with my daughter being born in less than 2 months.  I still have a few years to skirt around the issue – but when it does come up I’ll use this handy little children’s book!  A humorous and wonderful look at the follically challenged.  I am not alone in this, I know, but it’s always good to have a guide to go to when asked the harder questions that children ask – like, for instance, “Daddy, how come you have no hair?”

My Little Girl

My wife and I went for a 3-D ultra sound today.  We saw our little girl just how she looks right now!  She has a whole bunch of hair and her Mother’s cute button nose!  You can also see part of the umbilical cord on the right,  She kept on holding/ playing with it during the ultrasound.  See you soon Alexandra!
