BOOOOOOOOOOO!

This year has gone by so fast!  Yet, we still have more to go!  A couple more months of cooler weather is coming, as well as some of my favorite storytelling themes!  Don’t forget to book for:

Fall Themes

Scary (but not too scary) Tall Tales

and Thanksgiving!

I am also booking as far ahead as December and 2011!  Make sure you call today – I will be posting an updated schedule on the Upcoming Shows page this weekend!

 Mystic Aquarium

Mommy and Lex!

My family, on the way to New York to see my nephew get baptised, decided to stop at Mystic.  This Connecticut town is a beautiful area and has a great Aquarium.  Lex loves animals – and loves watching fish swim even more!  We’ve already taken a nice trip to Boston’s Science Museum  and we’ve been discussing taking her to the Aquarium in Boston for some time – this was sort of a test – and it was such a great success!

Lex at Mystic Pizza

We had a great day stopping to have a nice lunch at Mystic Pizza – where they filmed the 1988 Julia Roberts movie.  Lex enjoyed the French Fries and highly recommends them!  Then we walk on the boardwalk and she showed off her walking skills.  Lex is almost a full time walker now… and I have to say… I kind of miss the days of her NOT being mobile!

Title: Two Old Potatoes and Me
Author: John Coy
Publisher: Knopf Books for Young Readers

This is one of the books I discovered while in Hyannis doing a show.  This book follows a little girl who finds some old potatoes in a cabinet.  The potatoes have started to sprout and look weird – but unlike what I usually do (which is say “gross” and then throw them away) the girl and her father plant the potatoes.  Then, they watch as the potatoes grow and provide new food!  It’s a wonderful story to share!

Come celebrate the end of the summer reading at the library!  It will be a blast!  I promise!

I have created a bird sanctuary in my yard.  I was pleased with it’s outcome – I have a birdbath for my feathered friends to keep cool, there are two bird houses that remain unoccupied as of yet, and a bird feeder – I am on feeder #3 (The one in the pic is now out of commission) but I will post about my war with the squirrels later – and nothing is better than waking up to the sound of birds tweeting.  It’s like I wake up in a Disney cartoon!  Although my wife doesn’t share the love of the bird sounds in the morning – she does agree it’s a nice place to sit and relax

Title: I’m still here in the bathtub
Author: Alan Katz
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry Books

I was given this book one year from a school I frequented monthly.  I enjoy seeing the same group of children month after month.  These are the kids who I usually get to have the most fun with.  I try out new things and practice rarely done songs and such for the kids I see on a regular basis.  The school that gave me this is no longer around – which is always sad to me – but at least I have this great book as a memento.  My favorite “silly dilly” song?  He’s got the Whole Beach in his Pants.  I find it hilarious!

I had the distinct pleasure to visit the Falmouth Library – and I was able to see the new meeting room space – and boy is it beautiful!  I was so excited to see so many people there!  Falmouth is such a great area and I enjoy every visit – especially walking down Main St!

I was especially happy to have my cousin Jeffrey, who was visiting from California, to join me while performing “Father Abraham”.  I think he enjoyed himself too!  Here are some more shots:

I told one of my favorite stories called “The Bunny Bird” and Max and Uncle Charlie came out to get the children giggling – all around I had a great time – and I think the kids did too!

hingham

This summer’s Hingham Library show was so fantastic!  I really enjoy seeing familiar faces and knowing that they enjoy seeing my shows over and over is always a huge compliment!  I’ve been telling one of my longer – but favorite stories called “The Bunny Bird”.  One of the children told me that I did that story at his birthday party – and he said it was his favorite – he was happy that I told it!  That was nice to hear.

My show at the Weymouth Library was such a success – thanks to everyone who came out!  Even after all these years of telling stories there are still “Firsts” and it happened again!  After the show, when all the kids were coming up to tell me their Popsicle flavors, one of the young boys tried handing me a tip!  It was quite the honor to think I did such a good job that someone would think I deserved a tip!  Although I do not accept tips – I did think it was a very sweet thing to do.  Below is the photo where the boy has the money in his hand.  That’s the first time it ever happened – and like I said – it was unexpected, sweet and ultimately unnecessary!  But thank you anyways!

Quite the crowd in Weymouth!
