Title: Hop on Pop
Author: Dr. Suess
Publisher: Beginner Books

With Dr Seuss’ Birthday being just around the corner I thought it only appropriate that I choose one of the better – if not the best – Beginner Books.  I also love Go, Dog. Go! but this one has that one beat!  The simple play on words and rhythmic tone is only one of the reasons to introduce Dr. Seuss’ books to your children – the other reason is so that you can enjoy them all over again too!

First up is the Wellfleet Library @ 10:30am – and then I am off to Provincetown for a show at 1:30pm – if you’re close, or just want to take a fantastic ride on the Cape, then come on by!

For an 11:00am show!  If you’re in the area come on by!  Also, check my Upcoming Shows Page as I have quite a few Library shows this week!

upcoming shows

Some thing you may notice on the updated calendar – South Shore Community Action Council was granted some money from the Lego corporation – in turn they have asked that I run my “Building Stories” workshop for the a very limited group of children at some of the local libraries.  If you are interested in signing your child(ren) up please contact the library closest to you and register!  Keep in mind it is a 4-week program – please make sure you can make it to each one!  Can’t wait to see everyone who comes!

family reading night

South Elementary is the place to be tonight for the Family Literacy Night where children and parents can come to enjoy stories and songs – then do a fun craft and take home a book!

I will be performing at the Bright Horizons in Pembroke tomorrow morning – come and have breakfast with Frosty – come and see Big Ryan – what a perfect way to start your day!  Free for the public to come!  Click on the image for more details!

Title: Two Old Potatoes and Me
Author: John Coy
Publisher: Alfred A Knopf

This is another case where I waiting for a show to begin at a library and picked up this book. I loved it right away! As I have mentioned before, I love books that can teach you something at the same time as entertain – and this book delivers in spades!  This story is about a daughter and father that find a couple of old potatoes – and instead of throwing them away – they plant them!  Told from May to September watch as the perfectly illustrated book gives you a great account of how to make a gross discovery into a positive learning experience!

BRTT CD

In preperation for this Saturday’s event The Book Shack has my library of storytelling CDs for sale – RIGHT NOW! - Check them out!  I’ve heard they are great for car rides, night time and casual listening 🙂

Lex 1

My family came to my show at the Holmes Public Library – and Lex had a blast.  I have to admit, it melts my heart to see my little girl enjoying my stories like this.

This little girl really has made my life better in so many ways.  I am thankful everyday for such a happy, pretty and joyful little girl.

good-bye mainland

I was more than thrilled when the Montessori Children’s House of Nantucket called and invited me to the island to tell some stories.  They were having their annual fundraiser and they provide a day full of crafts, music and of course – Big Ryan!

performing!

The trip over, as cold as it was, was still beautiful and wild.  I had never been in a plane so small – but it was so worth it!  It’s like a 15 minute roller-coaster :)  I am sure it has a lot to do with the weather, as it was quite blustery along with the bitter coldness!

The Giggling Crowd

I have a cousin who lives on the island who came to show me around while waiting for my shows to begin.  The best part thus far was meeting her little pup, Fiona.  But before I knew it the afternnon had arrived and it was time to tell some stories!  I could not have asked for a better crowd – a room full of happy children – all ready to play and laugh along with my Tall Tales!

More pics are up on my Facebook page – check them out here – and while you are there “like” my page to get the latest Big Ryan updates!
